Befriending your Body, welcome to Painted Portrait
Witnessing Self
By creating a container for you to access a deeper layer of embodiment and shift how you see yourself, Painted Portrait is a journey of going beyond the expected. Inviting this curiosity to show up and be seen in authentic self expression can be empowering forward!
Integrated Somatic Experience & Therapeutic Photography Immersion
An immersion that starts a month before the portrait experience with a Somatic Discovery Consultation Session to help customize your Depth Journal which is intended to help you better prepare to drop from the thinking mind into the body, to be more present and grounded ready to show up for your Portrait Session. The experience integrates somatic tools to help calm your nervous system, to soften your edges, and activate your social engagement system in order to invite your most authentic self to shine through the lens.
Through a polyvagal trauma-informed approach, Painted Portrait is designed to lead you into a safer container for you to access a deeper layer of embodiment and shift how you see yourself, to show up and be witnessed in your truest form of freedom. It is an experience to learn how to LISTEN, EXPLORE, and PLAY with yourself, allowing you to show up the way you desire - naked in truth or all glammed up!
Do you want to be empowered to touch an edge you never knew existed? Are you ready to increase your self-esteem and self-awareness?
Join me for this immersion and remember what it feels like to be best friends with your body!

“I am so heart warmed and humbled by these pictures - and so so grateful to have been able to work with you to create them! I didn’t imagine I’d go for the selections I went for, particularly the close ups. I didn’t even realize I had a contemplating face that looked like that. All in all, I am yet again floored by your work and talent - and foster a newfound respect for the power of photography.”

“I will never forget this experience. How i felt walking in and how I felt walking out. I still look at my framed photo it’s been a year. A reminder of how I felt and can still access that feeling within me when I need it.”

Who is this for?
This immersion is for anyone that wants to feel themselves authentically in their skin, outside of judgement and societal constraints. To show up as they would behind closed doors but this time being WITNESSED, ENCOURAGED and SUPPORTED to feel good in their own skin.
Images are powerful, and can hold in them a moment of truth that can inspire you forward, to have, to re-witness, and to share with those that you love and the world! Painted Portrait was designed to help you soften, show up, and to help you choose a selection of photos that can reflect your experience to always be a reminder of how it can feel to be embodied in the power of freedom and of softening.
This is for you if you are willing to explore your vulnerable sides, with self-compassion and in a safe space, to break loose from your fear of authentic expression!
"Belonging is a human need, and it is particularly a need for those of us who have been told that we don't belong, that we are not part of this “Mythical Norm”, that we're not enough. My job, our job, is to tell the truth of belonging"
— Teo Drake

Djinane AlSuwayeh
Internationally published Creative Director and award-winning Portrait Photographer
Photographed in 2014, Painted Portrait became my most famous artwork and the inspiration behind this immersion.
We are captivating creatures, with an intrinsic wisdom always available to us, yet modern society encourages us to paint masks and wear costumes, living an external life. During my 10+ year career in the fashion industry, I saw so much darkness in a field that “writes with light.“ It is something very deep and something very intense to witness, when we are responsible in shaping beauty standards.
One of the most important advice I received in my life is this quote “If you spend your time trying to be what others are, you can be missing out on your own greatness.” One that I carry with me into this immersion, and the foundation to which I’ve tried to live my life by. Always being mindful of befriending your body by inviting curious explorations of what it’s like to return back to yourself each time you’ve had the wisdom of listening to how disconnected you’ve been.
I’m very much inspired by the human being, culture, identity, psychology and philosophy. Also, the mystery of beauty, I’m very much attracted to that. The idea of beauty beyond the beauty of the face, but of the whole person - beauty of character, of being, the body, and the way it moves and dances through life, differently to each his own experience.
To have a soul in front of my lens, it’s really an encounter and intimate confession. It has always fascinated me being that close to another life, and to be able to hold space for those willing to break open. To be in curiosity with self-compassion and raw expression has given countless of people an experience of being right there in their core, alive and full of choice.
I will always see you,
Love,
Djinane
